Rovinj is a Croatian port city on the west coast of the Istrian peninsula.
Rovinj offers you a wide range of sports and leisure options such as boat, bike or Segway excursions. Some yacht charter companies offer boats and yachts for rent in the marinas. Several diving centers offer diving courses and diving services. Angling and sport fishing as well as underwater fishing are also possible, but a permit is required for this. The idyllic surroundings invite you to go hiking, walking or jogging. Bicycles can of course also be hired.
The city’s landmark is the almost 60-meter-high church tower from the 17th century, which stands on the highest point of the former island and is modeled on the campanile in Venice.
The old town is enthroned by the three-aisled baroque church of St. Euphemia. It was built at the beginning of the 18th century on the foundations of an older church by the Venetian master builder Giovanni Dozzi.
The entrance to the old town is the Venetian Porta Balbi from 1680, adorned with two coats of arms and the winged lion of the Venetian Republic.
The local history museum, opened in 1954, is located in the baroque palace and shows archaeological and ethnological collections as well as changing art exhibitions. The Batana Museum is dedicated to the exhibition of wooden boats and fishing items.
